Interesting article in the Guardian about IMDB founder Col Needham.
“The human brain likes to make connections. Somebody spots a connection between two things. This prop always appears in their films, the roars in The Lion King are actually those of a tiger. You want to share that knowledge. And IMDb is a good platform.”
Though much of the article talks about Needham’s love of films, he seen 8524 movies and loves making lists;
10 Roman Empire Movies and Top 100 Comedies Up To 1960, the thorny issue of using algorithms for a film’s ratings is the main talking point in the comments section.
Questions of bias and the ability to make or break a film fill the comments section, as well as the secret formula for rating films:
